Delegate
Toribiong, Joel was born in the State of Koror on November 12, 1950
to Mrs. Ucheliei Malsol Toribiong, and Mr. Toribiong Uchel. He attended
and graduated from the Palau Seventh Day Adventist Elementary School
and Palau Mission Academy, and went on to complete 2 years of college
at the University of Guam.
Returning home after
formal education, Delegate Toribiong showed his great capacity,
stamina, and unadulterated zeal for public service. He served as
Director of the Bureau of Community Services; Presidential Assistant
to the late Republic of Palau President Lazarus E. Salii from 1986
to 1988; was Owner/Manager of the Palau Collection Agency from 1980
to 1986; and as General Manager for the NACL Tour Agency.
Aside from his working
career, Toribiongs broad interests led him into various civic duties
ranging from managing baseball, to promoting tourism, to acting
as spokesman for addressing grievances for government and private
employees alike. The Delegate was featured in Whos Who as a new
entry in the 1990 book of Outstanding Young Men in America.
Before he joined the
ranks of the Sixth Olbiil Era Kelulau membership as Delegate representing
the beautiful State of Koror, Delegate Toribiong, Joel served as
Legislator in the Koror State Legislature. He is married to the
former Sandy Adachi with whom he has two children, Jubilee Yobch
Toribiong, and Shannon Uheleae Toribiong. His interests as evidenced
by his choices in civic duties include baseball, basketball, community
beautification programs, youth development, and above alla fierce
commitment to better education for all and an all-out war on drugs.
